I did 2 tours in TJ May 1971 to May 1975 and June 1980 to June 1986. 10 years and enjoyed every single day of it. I worked in the Fire Department Bldg 404. I have 1 son and 1 daughter that were born @ TJ hospital. I sure miss the food and wine. I will be retiring from the Federal service and plan to take a vacation in Spain and visit the old running grounds in Madrid, Alcala and Torrejon de Arrdoz.

I am really late to this posting, but I am curious if any of you know of a Dean Dever that worked in the Fire Department in 1986? He was in his 20's while stationed at Torrejon.

I was at TJ from 83-85. I worked flight line for the 625 CAMS. Spent a lot of time gaming at the Rec Center. A few of the folks I'd like to contact are Wayne Morrison (he worked the F-16 flight sim), Mark Winkelman (I think he was with the base paper) and Paul Hines. If you remember, the name of the gaming club was WARPS and we met upstairs, every weekend and usually most week nights.

I was stationed at Torrejon Air Base from April 1986 to May 1989. I was Medical Administration and worked in the base hospital. I ran the Aeromedical Evacuation Office for half my time and the other have worked in Medical Plans and Readiness. I remember taking great tours out of the rec center. After leaving Torrejon went to RAF Fairford and then RAF Lakenheath. Got off Active duty in 1992 then went into the reserves at March Air Force Base, now called March Air Reserve Base and retired from the reserves in 2003 as a TSgt. I currently live in Chatsworth, CA which is just north of Los Angeles.

Hi,my family was at Torrejon from 1965 til 1973. We lived in Torrejon Apts and I attended both Torrejon elem and middle school along with my sisters Trisha, and Cheryl (everyone called her Pattycake). My father's name is Robert Lindsey,he was 1 of the first people in Social Actions (think it was later EEOC or H.R.)everyone called him Bob or B.L. My mother Trudy Lindsey worked at the BX. I would love to find old friends. Angie Jones,Phyllis Spriggs,Vernon Hawkins,Greg Waters,Leah Ritchie,Kim Walker,Norma Martinez. I was in Spain last summer, many people never knew we once had a base,so different now. I cried when I realized Torrejon Apts was torn down...all that remains is the ramp on the road we once sit on and waited for someone's parents to come by and give us a ride to the DYA,pool or movies! Those were the days! Would like to hear from old friends!

I remember your father very well! I worked at the base hospital's mental health clinic and on a weekly basis worked with your dad, John Anderson, and Lee Ford at Social Actions, 1972-1975. Please give him my regards.

I was stationed at TAB 1972-1975. Did you have a son named Mike Gaines? If so I believe he was my Little League 3rd baseman, 1973. Thoroughly enjoyed Spain and my years of coaching. Would be glad to get a reply and find out how Mike has done--I remember him vividly.

497th FIS,stationed at Torrejon from April 1958,(base was still being constructed) until July 1960. I worked the Comm and Nav equipment in the radio shop and sometimes helped out on the flight line and at base ops radio shop.
This assignment was the greatest--I am hoping some of you that partied or worked with me, are still around and will contact me.

joe dohmann Monday, 27 June 2011 06:07
