I was at Torrejon in '88-'89 with my husband Steve. Most people called him Woody. He was with 2186th. I worked in the base gym and golf course. Does anyone have info on Terry (don't remember her last name) the arobics instructor at ROaks and the base gym? Or SMSgt Rick West who worked with MWR? Also would love to hear from RoseMarie Butto.

Edward Diaz Tuesday, 14 August 2012 07:14

Does anyone remember my father, Howard Lee Sorensen? He worked at TAFB between 1971-76 401st TFW-I know he worked on the planes. I know he wanted to extend his time there but that was denied, so we uprooted to Hill AFB in Utah-leaving was so sad. My dad passed away pretty young in 2003-I miss him everyday. From what I know he had alot of pain in his back and went thru a series of doctors-ended up at the ER they ran tests-it was cancer-when they told him he died of a heart attack. They never could tell me what kind of cancer it was. I know he always wanted to return to Spain-may he rest in PEACE-he is probably there.
Thanks All,
Sincerely,
Debbie

I was inthe 401st Maintenance complex Aero Repair Shop / Quality Control from Nov 69 - May 74. I knew your dad \"Howard\" from our FMS Egress shop. Saw him at Hill AB in about \"79. Sorry to hear of his early departure and God rest his Soul in Peace. I have thought of you dad many times overthe years, and wondered how he and your Mother were doing. I cannot remember your Moms name but can still remember that very stylish short haircut she wore. Hope this response reaches you Debbie

Wastn't Col. Creech the base commander at least when I was there. He was an upcoming officer in the AF.
Did you all call the base "Creech AFB" as a joke?

Worked on 401st DCM staff in Maintenance Management Div. 1983-1986. Made SMSgt the same day I landed at TJ and left with line number for CMSgt. My brother Joel was in the NDI lab for most of my tour. He married a Spainiard and that made our tour so much more enjoyable because we embraced and loved the culture. Probably my best assignment in my 24 year career. (never had a bad assignment). Would enjoy hearing from my old friends and associates. Rafa Barron....were you the same Rafa that worked in my Keypunch section?

LaWanda Williams Sunday, 22 May 2011 15:54
I remembr Sgt Greenleaf in NDI I was in the CRS electric shop, I believe he worked with a friend of mine name Lucille, who was the DCM when you were there. I remember he was very tall and personable. Torrejon was my best assignment.....LaWanda Williams, Charleston AFB, SC

David Darilek Wednesday, 7 September 2011 14:51
I too worked in the NDI Lab from May 85 ~ Dec 91. Really enjoyed my tour in Spain. I remember Joel, he left to Ramstien right around the time I arrived. Spoke to him many times on the phone he advanced very quick through the ranks.

Sam Horn Friday, 27 January 2012 05:02
La Wanda, I believe the DCM you asked about was Col Ben Fruhauf. During the summer, he has a cabin in Gilbert Arkansas on the Buffalo river and in the winter, he has a home on an island south of Tampa. I have had the pleasure of visiting with him over the years and must say his personality hasn\'t changed.

RANDALL FURLOUGH Thursday, 27 September 2012 00:02
Randall Furlough Sept.26th,2012 Col.
Benjamin Fruhauf, did he possibly come to
TJ from Kunsan, because he was there 81-82
when I was there 8th FW Wolfpack.

LaWanda Williams Wednesday, 13 February 2013 15:30
Yes, Randall I believe that is the same Col Fruhauf that we are speaking of ~ I remember him always giving time to Airman and always personable. Glad he is doing well.

Kevin Berchelmann Monday, 28 November 2016 09:16
Lots of names I remember--Jim Greenleaf, I remember you and Sam Horn both, and certainly Col Fruehauf (and Col Walker who succeeded him). I worked MAMC (combat plans and mobility) for Keith Weber (MSgt) and Jim Beddows (LT).
