Hello, I was stationed at TJ from Apr 1987 to Apr 1991. I arrived at TJ already married to a wonderful Spanish girl (Toñi) from Cádiz.

In the 4 years at TJ, I worked at the CBPO with TSgt Sammy McCoy, Capt Regina Montgomery, SMSgt Dennis Weibe, MSgt John Unpingco, MSgt Nelson Sumner, SSgt Raymond Reyes, Mr. Joe Gallager, MSgt Perly Folly, SSgt Mike Day. I was assigned to Special Actions/Reenlistments and later was in the Promotions and Testing Office. I remember CMSgt Lou Marquis, too.

I stay in for a total 25 years and got to spend 7 of them at Rota (Spain) from 2002 til 2009. (if you're doing the math; yes, of 25 years AD I got to spend 11 years in Spain!) I retired in 2010 out of HQ AETC/A1 BUT then started my new civilian career working as a Navy civilian back at Rota the very following day I left active duty. I'm still here at Rota but now I work for DoDDS.

I remember Perly Folly. I was in the CBPO from Dec 74 to Dec 77. Perly was a SSgt then.

Hello, I hope this email finds you well, this may be a long shot but I wanted to ask you help.

My Name is Alfred Arias Maeso, my father Alfred Albert Matthew  nicknamed "coockie" , was stationed at Torrejon AFB in 1967?-1969.  He left Madrid when I was very young and we have never met.

He was of Jewish American decent, and was friends with a guy from Supply who was nicknamed el Rubio.

I wanted to see if maybe you knew of him or if you could help to get the word out with your network of friends.  I have kids of my own and this is a part of my life that I would like some closure on after all these years.

I appreciate your help.

I was stationed at TJ from Feb. 1985-87. 2186 Communications Squadron/1989 Comm Wing
I was a Tech Controller (AFSC 307x0 changed to 493x0).
I was pretty much a 'dorm rat', but got out occasionally.
If you would like to see some pictures of the facility, some of the base, go to the following website: [groups.yahoo.com]
I'm going to list some names in case anyone sees them let in the guestbook, let me know: Mark Christ, Grant Messer, Steve Sutton, Kim Marks, Kristine Martinez, Lisa Ritchie, David Vinatieri, James Flack, Rick Odell, Clyde Webb, John Lado, Tovar, Gordon, many more if I set and think a while. Finding any of these would be good. Actually, I think that David Vinatieri is living in Co. Springs, but I haven't followed up.

Hey Dave,
I was in Wideband from 85-90 (minus a couple of years at Job Control). Gotta be honest, don't recall your name...so much of those years are somewhat hazy. :) I recognize a lot of the names you list though. Used to play some D&D and Axis & Allies with Kim Marks on night shift.

Sent to Spain prior to the base being opened as a radio operater. Worked off field in the beginning till a fight happened in down town bar which forced us onto the base as the housing was just finished. Nice barracks and only stayed a while as we got shipped off to Morrocco. Enjoyed the place, wine and female company.

I lived in Alcala De Henares in 1984 and in Encinar De Los Reyes in '85 and '86. I was there with my step-dad and was only 10 when I moved there. I would really love to hear from some of the kids I used to hang out with!

Hi DanaRose, I am 35 now and am also looking for friends around that time frame... Do you remember any of their names? I was trying to find Chantal Wilson...She had sisters Danita and Vivian, and her parents were Bill and Anita.

Did you ever get down to Ciudad Real, Spain(the city)? There was an American there named Carl Hilton. He served 12 years in the USAF and settled down with his Spanish wife, Pradi, in Ciudad Real in 1969. He had a sister in law named Antonia Rodriguez. Real nice people. Very respectible.

I was stationed at Torrejon Air Base from April 1986 to May 1989. I was Medical Administration and worked in the base hospital. I ran the Aeromedical Evacuation Office for half my time and the other have worked in Medical Plans and Readiness. I remember taking great tours out of the rec center. After leaving Torrejon went to RAF Fairford and then RAF Lakenheath. Got off Active duty in 1992 then went into the reserves at March Air Force Base, now called March Air Reserve Base and retired from the reserves in 2003 as a TSgt. I currently live in Chatsworth, CA which is just north of Los Angeles.
