Stationed at Torrejon from Sep '86-May '89.

401 EMS Corrosion Control (aka "The Paint Shop").

I'm responsible for those spiffy white shadows on the "TJ" on the tails, the grey falcon heads, and the checkerboards on the F-16's. Not all of them, of course, but quite a few.

Our shop also did full F-16 repaint jobs.

I was stationed at Torrejon Air Base from April 1986 to May 1989. I was Medical Administration and worked in the base hospital. I ran the Aeromedical Evacuation Office for half my time and the other have worked in Medical Plans and Readiness. I remember taking great tours out of the rec center. After leaving Torrejon went to RAF Fairford and then RAF Lakenheath. Got off Active duty in 1992 then went into the reserves at March Air Force Base, now called March Air Reserve Base and retired from the reserves in 2003 as a TSgt. I currently live in Chatsworth, CA which is just north of Los Angeles. My E-Mail is MARCHAFB@HOTMAIL.COM

Some of the best years of my life were spent in Spain at TAB. Wish I'd never left sometimes.

Served as the 625 MASS Air Terminal Manager from Nov 1974 to Nov 1977. Loved every day of my assignment and Spain. I went back in 2010. Do not go back if you expect to relive wonderful memories. You will be disappointed. It is all gone.

Tony Mazza Friday, 22 August 2014 20:06
I was stationed there from 1970-1972.
Enjoyed every minute I was there. Spent every day off exploring the beauty of Spain.
Went back several years ago, and also was very disappointed. It definitely was not the Spain I left.
Couldn't even find a decent local restaurant.
"The Caves" were not the same. Not the same ambience.

Hi all. At TJ from 66-70, 401st Supply. Worked NORS Control, supporting base aircraft, weapons systems, and Comm equip. Had great bunch of guys and had great times on base and our apt in Alcala. We had some good bowling teams there and I remember a new years eve in Plaza Major! Like to hear from anyone who was there then. Retired from St of CA and live near Sacto.

Ahhhhhhhhhh! NORS Control and Jill from Weathersford on the phone. The Grand Prix, drinking in your apartment and of course baby sitting.
