My father, Steven Moody, was stationed at Torrejon in the late 1960s. He met my mother, Judy Goddard, there, and they were married in Madrid and on the base in the spring of 1969. Her father was a COL or LTCOL Goddard in the AF JAG Corps.

I am trying to find her now--she left not long after I was born, and remarried an Air Force man named Henry Nicholas or Henry Nichols, and I have not seen her for nearly 40 years (I will be 40 this year). If anyone remembers anything about her, and knows where she might be today, please email me at dmoody4424@yahoo.com. I appreciate it.

I arrived at Torrejon on December 29, 1969 right out of admin tech school. As it was yesterday, I remember vividly 39 years ago, getting off the plane on the flight line and experiencing nice warm rain which was a plus coming from extreme cold McGuire AFB.
I was assigned to the 401st Civil Engineering Squadron from December 1969 through June 1973; working first in the orderly room for 1st Sgt Thomas H. Williams; then went to work for TSgt Harold W. Morris; then finally spent my final time with the Fire Department. Some of the wonderful people I remember is Dale Chabot (who taught me how to drink whiskey); Rudy Gallegos and my roommate (Paul Ramirez). Good friends with MSgt at the time Bobby Waldo. In my off duty time; spent alot of time coaching Little League baseball and other youth sports and enjoyed Madrid immensely.
Those 3 1/2 years at Torrejon will always go down as a most wonderful experience; especially made by the wonderful people I had met.

smile I was stationed at Torrejon from 81-83, worked in the Electric Shop, 401st CRS, I PCS'd and then returned to Torrejon in 85 married to Bubba Williams who worked in the Sheetmetal Shop in the 401st; we were there until Jan '86. My husband Bubba played on the base team for several years under Coach Willie Jones. If anyone remembers Mike "Byrd" Edwards from the basketball team he has passed away this month Jan '09 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. All who knew him and his wife Betty please say a prayer. I will forever cherish my Torrejon memories, all who were there during that time, please give a "shout out".

See ya, "LAWAN"

Shocked when I read that Mike Edwards passed. We worked in the same office together, spoke to his wife Betty often. I can still remember Mike telling me that if God wasn't a Tar heel why'd he paint the sky Carolina Blue. My prayers go out to Betty, family and friends.Rest in peace Buddy.

Hello to all who shared my good times at TJ from Jun 88 to Apr 92.
I did not work with John Lanier at TJ, but I spent 3 years working with him at Spangdahlem.
My family and I have many happy memories of TJ and would like to correspond with anyone who knew me from there. Hope to hear from any of you.

Was stationed at TJ from 3 Jan 83 - 6 Jan 86. Was assigned to the 401st AGS as a 462 until the F-16 A's and B's came in, then was transferred to the 613th AMU. Was a load crew chief, expediter, LSC and SLC team member. Lived in the Parque Catluna in TJ for the entire assignment. We had no HOLA or COLA because we were getting 300 pesetas to the dollars. Best overseas assignment I ever had - still talk about it to this day. big grin

Steve Schultze Monday, 10 October 2011 17:31
I think I remember you Mark. I was also on the LSC crew. Do you remember Vince or Tony a black guy that owned and sold Alaskan Malamutes don't know if I spelled that right. Let me know

Pete Rhodes Monday, 16 January 2012 11:13
Steve - I believe you're speaking of Vince Townsend? Guy with a black Volvo, married to a Captain. He retired as a Chief a few years ago at Hill UT. And also 'Tony' may be Tony Petty.
I was there 82-85, mostly LSC 2 man on Vince's crew.

I was there at the same time you were - my dad was in ATC in the 1989th. His name was MSGT Kenneth W. Pearson. Ater Spain - we lived in Big Spring TX (Webb AFB), then he went to Utapao Thailand and from there back to Kelly AFB and retired after that. He passed away in 1994. I was eight when we moved to Spain and we lived in Royal Oaks. I have many fond memories of that time. I did locate one person you might remember. He cut some records when he was over there and had a hit in the US prior to being stationed at Torrejon. His name is Joe Bennett and lives in North Carolina, I think. He is still alive - you can find him on the internet.

I was surprised to learn that you had left Spain. I think I had learned about that in the late 90s. My last trip to Spain was in 1986 when I was on flight status with the 964 AWACS and we worked an exercise with the 401 and Spanish Air Force and Navy. If you run into Carlos Alcantara while you are in San Antonio, give him my greetings and enjoy a glass of wine together.

Noticed last post was like 3 years ago...hoping this finds you in good health. All in all I enjoyed my time at TJ and to say the least twas very interesting. I retired in 1991 and now living in Dunnellon Florida. Remember your days in Demand processing and then the F16 Ready Team.

I was stationed at Torrejon from Dec 67 to Dec 70. I was a Medic in the 401st Hospital. My last 2 years I mostly worked the Emergency Room, however, I did spend some time as an "Independent Medic" out with the Communications squadrons out on the Baleric Islands and up in the Pyrrenes Mountains.

Met my wife, Joyce, @ Torrejon. She was a dependent and had just graduated my the base High School in 1970.
